Abuse and Neglect happens to people who live at home, live in group homes or institutions. It can affect people from all backgrounds, social and financial situations. Abuse and neglect are not acceptable in any situation or for any reason. It results in serious physical and emotional harm and may be fatal. Every person, young or old, with or without disability has the right as a human not to be abused. Abuse, neglect and violence are crimes that are not acceptable under any circumstances when providing care or services to people with disability.
