There is strong evidence of the many benefits of physical activity and exercise for older people; including the very old and frail. There is also evidence that by middle age (45years+) only 50% of people are engaging in regular physical activity and exercise of moderate to high intensity. Physical activity and exercise are integral components of health risk management for all ages. The benefits affect all aspects of a person's wellbeing including mental health and quality of life. There are a number of factors that will play a part in the successful engagement of older people in physical activity and exercise.
