Residential Care - Aggression Minimisation, Restraint
Acting in an aggressive way is often caused by a combination of factors. People react in many different ways when they feel frightened, frustrated or confused. Everyday life and other pressures can also add to the situation, as well as health problems including pain. Your client may have health problems that increase her feelings of distress, anger and frustration. She may also have delusional thoughts and hallucinations caused by dementia or other mental illness that cause her to believe that people are taking things from her or that she needs to protect herself. Others in your client's home or family members may also act in an aggressive way at times.
