All people in our society have the same personal, legal, civic and consumer rights. Your clients have these rights as well as specific rights and responsibilities as recipients of aged care services. Your client has the right to keep making decisions and choices about all parts of his life including care, treatment, culture, beliefs and religion. He should never feel obliged or pressured to receive care or other services in a way that is not best for him. He has the right to live his life in his own way. However he also has responsibilities as an aged care recipient. Your client should be helped and encouraged to keep control of his life and maintain his independence. This includes all aspects of his life, at home and within the community.
