Advocacy is about working with and speaking on behalf of another person in such a way that the person knows what his rights are and results in his rights being upheld by others. An advocate is a person or organisation that can be relied upon to support and stand up for the rights of another person in the way that is best for his needs and wants. An advocate is not someone who makes decisions for another person. The reasons for advocacy and having an advocate is to make sure that your client gets the care and services that are best for his individual needs and wants. This is based on his rights as a recipient of community aged care services.
